CyberBullying

So I have not written a blog post for quite a while, so I decided I will write a post about CyberBullying:

CyberBullying is when someone uses the internet or a mobile to purposely upset someone else. This is a form of bullying and you shouldn't have to put up with it.

What is the difference?
This type of bullying can affect someone not just at school, but at home as too. This is because it always takes place in the online environment, because it is online it can be used at anytime.
Sometimes it can be difficult to find out who the cyberbully is because they could block their number or use another name. This type of bullying can have a large audience, but most won't know that it is actually bullying. This could be known as indirect bullying.
A good thing about this kind of bullying is that it can be used as evidence. Normal bullying can be the bullies word against yours, but with cyberbullying you can save the messages or web pages and print them out. This can be used as evidence to find out who the bully is and stop them bullying other people too.

What Should You Do?
You should:

  1. Save all the messages or web pages. If you have upsetting emails or nasty things put on your profile save them to your phone or computer so you can use it as evidence.
  2. Learn how to block the bully. (I suggest you keep the contacts and find a way to block them as by keeping the contacts you will know who it is if they do it again)
  3. Don't reply to things that are said; it could make the situation worse. If you ignore them they will get bored and give up. If they get a reaction from you they have won. Don't give them what they want, We know this is hard but most people find it works.
  4. If you are being bothered via your mobile phone, you should contact your phone provider. Each company has a special area for problems like this.

I hope this helps and remember we are:

One Direction: Write a song about cyberbullying

Can as many people as possible please sign this petition:

One of the BeatBullying mentors, ****@bee has launched a fantastic new petition on http://www.change.org asking One Direction to include a song about bullying on their new album, which is currently in production.

One Direction have experienced bullying in different forms, ever since they first formed. Zayne had to take his Twitter profile down, Liam has spoken of his experiences at school, and Harry was targeted during the group's X Factor days.

Join the campaign, let’s get 1D to raise awareness of bullying and cyberbullying. We need your help. Sign the petition at http://www.change.org/1Dcyberbullying

Bullying Outside of School

I have been wondering about this for quite some time and I have now found this:
"Bullying outside school premises
Head teachers have a specific statutory power to discipline pupils for poor behaviour
outside of the school premises. Section 89(5) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006
gives head teachers the power to regulate pupils’ conduct when they are not on school
premises and are not under the lawful control or charge of a member of school staff (this
legislation does not apply to independent schools). This can relate to any bullying
incidents occurring anywhere off the school premises, such as on school or public
transport, outside the local shops, or in a town or village centre.
Where bullying outside school is reported to school staff, it should be investigated and
acted on. The head teacher should also consider whether it is appropriate to notify the
police or anti-social behaviour coordinator in their local authority of the action taken
against a pupil. If the misbehaviour could be criminal or poses a serious threat to a
member of the public, the police should always be informed."
You may like to take a look at the full document here: https://www.education.gov.uk/publications/eOrderingDownload/Preventing%20and%20Tackling%20Bullying.pdf
Subsection (5) of section 89 in the Education and Inspectors Act 2006 states the following:
"(5)The measures which the head teacher determines under subsection (1) may, to such extent as is reasonable, include measures to be taken with a view to regulating the conduct of pupils at a time when they are not on the premises of the school and are not under the lawful control or charge of a member of the staff of the school."
